About Me
Paul D. Allen, MA, CFP®, EA, MQFP® is a fee-only financial planner, tax professional, educator, and retired U.S. Navy officer specializing in the financial issues affecting military members, veterans, and their families.
Paul is the founder of PIM Tax Services, a tax practice with particular expertise in the complex federal and state tax issues affecting military and veteran families.
Paul served nearly 24 years in the U.S. Navy, beginning his career as an enlisted nuclear power plant operator and later serving as a commissioned intelligence officer. His military experience, combined with his work in financial planning and taxation, has shaped his focus on the financial decisions unique to military life, including military retirement, the Thrift Savings Plan, Survivor Benefit Plan, VA benefits, military taxation, transition from active duty, and the interaction among these benefits.
Paul holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification, is an IRS Enrolled Agent, and holds the Military Qualified Financial Planner® (MQFP®) designation. He is the founder and director of the MQFP® Certification Program and a founding member of both the Military Financial Advisors Association and the Military Tax Experts Alliance.
Paul earned a Master of Arts in Financial Planning and Law from Regent University School of Law and has taught financial planning at the university level. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Organizational Management, with research interests that include financial wellness, professional decision-making, and the application of financial and tax information to better client outcomes.
Paul’s work reflects a simple premise: military families should not have to explain their benefits to their financial professional. Their financial professional should understand those benefits well enough to help them make better decisions about them.
